How to reinstall the Surfshark application on macOS

This guide will walk you through the process of reinstalling Surfshark on your macOS device.


First, it’s important to note that there are two ways to uninstall the app, depending on how it was originally installed — either via the App Store or using our standalone .DMG installation file.


Below, we’ll explain how to uninstall Surfshark step by step for each installation method.

 

Reinstall Surfshark app installed from App Store

  1. Open the Apps folder on your Mac. You can usually access it from the Dock:


     
  2. Locate the Surfshark application and drag it to the Trash:


     
  3. If a pop-up appears, click Delete to confirm:


     
  4. Empty the Trash by right-clicking the Trash icon and selecting Empty Trash to completely remove the app from your Mac:


     
  5. Reinstall Surfshark by downloading it again from the App Store, or alternatively, install the Surfshark .DMG file.

 

Reinstall Surfshark app installed via .DMG file

  1. Open Finder on your macOS device. You can usually access it from the Dock:


     
  2. In the Finder window, navigate to Applications:


     
  3. Locate the Surfshark application, right-click on it, and select Move to Trash:


     
  4. If a pop-up appears, click Continue to confirm:

  5. Empty the Trash by right-clicking the Trash icon and selecting Empty Trash to completely remove the app from your Mac:


     
  6. Reinstall Surfshark by installing the Surfshark .DMG file, or alternatively, downloading it again from the App Store.
